Effective recycling is a challenge for Canada as most of the recyclable materials end up in landfills as a lot of the containers and objects can be contaminated or unrecyclable. Our team was tasked with the creation of a streamlined system that determines the recyclability of containers based on their intrinsic properties and sort them appropriately using a Q-bot equipped with an array of sensors and a mechanism to control a hopper on top.
